Judge Emeka Nwite of the federal high court in Abuja has rejected the EFCC's request to arraign Yahaya Bello for alleged fraud, citing the absence of Bello's lawyers. The court previously adjourned the case to January 21, 2025.

The federal high court in Abuja refused to arraign Yahaya Bello , the former governor of Kogi, for alleged fraud worth N80 billion, due to the absence of his lawyers. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission ( EFCC ) brought Bello to court on Friday but the trial judge, Emeka Nwite, decided against proceeding without his legal representation. The judge also noted that the matter was previously adjourned to January 21, 2025.

Additionally, the EFCC is pursuing another case against Bello at the federal capital territory high court
