Abdulsalami Abubakar, Nigeria’s former head of state, has finally reacted to the sudden removal of Muhammed Sanusi as Emir of Kano by Kano Government.
Mr. Abubakar, the chairman of the reconciliation committee set up by the presidency to intervene and proffer solution to the feud between the emir and the governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje told Voice of America Hausa Service that he is not sure of President Muhammadu Buhari’s intervention in the ongoing kerfuffle.
Speaking on the reconciliation steps taken by the committee, he said he held meetings with both the emir and the governor but unfortunately did not end well. “After conclusion of the assignment, we realized that there was amicable resolution to the crisis. Surprisingly, this is what happened at last,”“Well, I can say so in view of the latest development. In my view, all the committee’s efforts are wasted.”“I can’t really say whether Buhari has a hand in the matter because I am currently not in Nigeria.
