The police in Benue State have arrested five suspects in connection with the abduction of a businessman, Chief Isaac Akinkunmi.
A family source said the businessman was released in the early hours of Monday from the kidnappers’ den.The state Police Public Relations Officer, Catherine Anene, said in a statement on Monday that five suspects were arrested in connection with the businessman’s abduction.
Anene stated, “During investigation, five suspects were arrested in connection with the case and one locally-made pistol loaded with six rounds of ammunition were recovered from them. Investigation is still in progress.Meanwhile, Akinkunmi explained that his abductors were actually kind to him. The businessman said one of his abductors brought him back on a motorcycle to a place where he could reach his family members around 1am on Monday.
Akinkunmi appreciated God for coming out alive and thanked the Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, security operatives and the people, who took time to pray for him while he was in captivity.
