The House of Representatives has said it considered a total of 2,232 bills in the last four years, out of which 2,000 were passed.
“Here are the statistics: The 9th Assembly processed 2,232 bills. Out of these, 52 are Executive bills, 163 are bills from the Senate and 2,017 are members’ bills.
“Out of these figures, bills awaiting second reading are 1,197; bills referred to committees, 581; bills reported by the committees, 275; bills pending with the committees, 308; bills awaiting committees or Committee of the Whole, 106; bills laid on table awaiting consideration, 64; bills passed, 510; bills killed , 13; and bills withdrawn by their sponsors, five. The House also passed 2,000 motions in total.
Meanwhile, several leaders and members, before the 9th House wound down, recalled major events in the chamber since 2019, during which they made some revelation. The Chairman of the House Committee on Tertiary Education and Services, Aminu Suleiman, recalled how some top officials in the last administration led by Muhammadu Buhari moved to proscribe the Academic Staff Union of Universities, which shut down the universities for eight months last year.All rights reserved.
