$9.6bn: FG should file corruption charges against P&ID boss — Ex-AGF MondayMotivation
A former Attorney-General of the Federation, Michael Aondoakaa, has advised the Federal Government to file corruption charges against representatives of the Process and Industrial Developments firm for entering into a sham contract with some unscrupulous Nigerians.“Everyone involved must face the law including the foreigner. You cannot do this in the United States,” he said.
Aondoakaa, who was the AGF from 2007 to 2010, also stated that no such contract was ever brought before executive council which means it was unlawful from the onset. “This happened in secrecy. I contacted the DG of the Infrastructural Regulatory Commission and he was also shocked. Everything that is coming to us now is shocking. Ignorance of law is no excuse. If you are a foreign country coming to Nigeria, you ought to know the law. You ought to know if the contract was appropriated in the budget,” the former AGF argued.
The former AGF said Section 5 of the constitution as well as Sections 2 and 3 of the Infrastructural Regulatory Commission Act are clear on this.He said the Federal Government ought not to negotiate with P&ID because doing so could validate the fraudulent contract
