The 2023 presidential candidate of African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has reacted to the $3 billion AFREXIMBank loan secured by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), describing Nigerian leaders as economic saboteurs and criminally minded buccaneers. SaharaReporters earlier reported that NNPCL said it had secured an emergency $3 billion crude oil repayment loan from AFREXIMBank to stabilise the country’s exchange rates.

The company said this in a tweet on Wednesday, adding that the $3 billion is from AFREXIMBank, the trade finance bank for Africa and that the money will be used to increase the value of the country’s currency, naira, at the international market. He also asked if AFREXIMBank is not the same bank the suspended governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria , Godwin Emefiele, had allegedly been"shipping Nigerian money to".
