37% girl child literacy level in Kano worrisome, says UNICEF

The UNICEF Chief Field Officer in Kano, Maulid Warfa, who disclosed the frightening statistics, decried the 39 per cent girl child enrollment in primary education.

He contended that about 80 per cent challenges bedeviling girl child, including health, could be addressed if government channelled more resources to the education of those in the group. Warfa stressed the need for the northern states governments to continue to give priority attention to education in order to address the fundamental social problems bedevilling the society.
