“I appreciate the pilgrims for their tolerance, understanding, and cooperation with government officials. Their exemplary conduct has further elevated the enviable status of the state as the number one in hajj operations amongst the states in Nigeria. I am optimistic that next year’s hajj would be much better than the present.”
The Chairman of Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Ayinde Gafar, disclosed that Nigerian caterers were not given the right to prepare local delicacies for the pilgrims. “There is a need for improvement in the area of feeding because the Saudi Arabian authority did not accord Nigerian caterers the right to prepare our local delicacies for the pilgrims. However, the attention of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria has been drawn to this challenge and steps would be taken to allow the inclusion of indigenous caterers,” he stated. All rights reserved.
