The Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has announced a Hajj fare of N8,784,085.59 for intending pilgrims participating in the 2025 pilgrimage from the state. The board urged intending pilgrims who have already paid the initial deposit of N8.5 million to complete the balance of N284,085.59 before the deadline of January 31, 2025.

Onipede, the executive secretary of the board, advised those who have obtained the intention form but are yet to make payments to do so immediately to secure their slots. He emphasized that the fares were finalized by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) after receiving approval from the vice-president. The amounts were tailored to different zones, taking into consideration regional economic variations.Pilgrims from southern states, including Lagos, will pay N8,784,085.59. Those from Borno and Adamawa will pay N8,327,125.59, while pilgrims from the northern zone will pay N8,457,685.59. Acknowledging the economic challenges facing many Nigerians, Onipede expressed empathy and encouraged pilgrims to remain hopeful. He noted that Lagos pilgrims will enjoy numerous benefits including accommodations close to the Haram in Makkah and the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah, meals featuring local delicacies, spiritual counselling by Islamic clerics, and transportation via a “world-class airline”
