Some stakeholders in the media industry have advised journalists planning to cover the forthcoming general elections to prioritise their safety.
The assertion was made at a training for journalists on peaceful and non-violent elections held in Ibadan. A representative of the International Press Centre, Mr. Lanre Arogundade in his paper titled “Election and conflict sensitive reporting”, urged journalists to report any act of intimidation or threat.
He, however, advised journalists to be part of peacebuilding and avoid being used to cause conflicts in the country.
