2019 Hajj: Rejected tour operators get another chance to renew licence vanguardngr.com vanguardnews
Tour operators have been offered another opportunity to re-present their cases for the renewal of their licences in preparation for the 2019 Hajj operations in Saudi Arabia.
The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, NAHCON, in November of 2018, had in November, 2018 called for renewal or fresh application for licensing as private Tour Operators. From the 144 companies that applied for the licence, only 59 were confirmed while 85 were considered not qualified.After a lot of outcries, it was gathered, NAHCON considered their plea and set up another panel to hear the defence of the 85 tour operators deemed not to be qualified.
According to a statement signed by Head, Public Affairs Division of the commission, Hajia Fatima Sanda Usara, a 10-man committee named “Consideration of Appeals By Appellant Companies for 2019 Hajj Licence” has been constituted to look at their appeals. “Towards this, a 10-man committee named “Consideration of Appeals By Appellant Companies for 2019 Hajj Licence” was constituted. In his remarks, during commencement of hearing recently, NAHCON’s Commissioner of Operations, Alhaji Modibbo Saleh, charged the members on fairness in the discharge of their assignment and to conduct the sitting, bearing in mind consequences of injustice.
