More than 2,600 youths are participating in the Season 2 of the MTN Champs, which began in Ibadan on Friday.It is the second
leg of Nigeria’s premier Schools’ Athletics Championships, which began in Asaba early this year.
Speaking in Ibadan at the weekend, the General Manager, Segment and Devices, MTN, Idowu Adesokan, said the initiative was borne out of the need to meet dreams and aspirations of young Nigerians, who intend to marry athletes with their education. Akanni described the event as a nation-building and life-changing exercise for kids, saying one of the aims of the event is to support Nigeria’s core values and make the nation’sfuture at the Olympics brighter.
After losing 0-1 to the Super Falcons of Nigeria in the first leg of their Paris 2024 Olympics qualifiers in Abuja on Friday, coach of Banyana Banyana of South Africa, Desiree Ellis, says her team will get the job done on Tuesday in Pretoria. Desiree Ellis, coach of South Africa’s female national football team, Bayana Bayana, has described their 0-1 loss to the Super Falcons of Nigeria as “just half time”.
