The National President of the Southern Kaduna Peoples Union, Jonathan Asake, said the 17 people killed in Gonan-Rogo by gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen had been given mass burial.
The community reportedly came under attack in the early hours of Tuesday where no fewer than 17 people were killed while six persons suffered gunshot and machete wounds.
But the Kaduna State Police Command said 15 and not 17 people were killed in the attack while five sustained injuries. The state command Public Relations Officer, ASP Mohammed Jalige, in a statement had said, “The attackers started shooting sporadically attacking the villagers and in the process shot and killed fifteen persons, and injured five others.”
However, Asake, a former member of the House of Representatives, insisted on Wednesday that those that were killed were 17 and had since been given mass burial. The SOKAPU boss told our correspondent on the telephone, “those deaths were given mass burial yesterday ,” adding that “a team of SOKAPU officials were there.”All rights reserved.
