15 Almajirai rescued from Niger torture centre
A torture centre where Almajirai are being kept in dehumanising conditions has been discovered in Niger state.The centre, which is in Anguwan Gwari Suleja, houses a number of Almajirai from five years with many of them exhibiting signs of having undergone torture from their operator.Different irons used in carrying out various types of torture on the children were discovered by the police, which invaded the centre following complaints by residents.
The Police Public Relations Officer ASP Abiodun Wasiu confirmed police operatives attached to ‘A’ Division Suleja rescued15 kids from the centre.He said the victims had been handed over to Niger State Child Right Agency, adding investigation is ongoing on the case.
