The Federal Road Safety Corps has confirmed the unfortunate incident, noting that 10 of the victims were women while two were males. SaharaReporters gathered that the victims chartered a fourteen (14) seater EBSU bus from Abakaliki to Enugu State to attend a burial. An eyewitness who spoke to newsmen in Abakaliki said the EBSU bus had a head-on collision with a truck returning from Enugu State.

Confirming the incident, the Sector Commander of FRSC in Ebonyi, Uche Chukwurah, said the accident involved a shuttle bus and truck.He said that two persons sustained grave injuries from the accident that occurred in the morning hours.
