Twenty-nine new indigent and brilliant students have joined 90 existing beneficiaries in various higher institutions across Lagos and Ogun states to enjoy the District Education and Welfare Endowment Fund of the Rotary International, District 9110.
At the presentation ceremony held at Rotary Centre, Ikeja, each beneficiary received N100, 000.
He said: “Education is very key to us because the future of our youths and the country is very crucial. This enabled the Rotaract club to prepare youths for the future, equipping them with the ideals of rotary four-way test in addition to financial support.” The District Governor, Rotary International, District 9110, Omotunde Lawson, said in addition to the scholarship, DEWEF also has an empowerment programme where graduates are trained as entrepreneurs. She added that since the scholarship award started 10 years ago, the district has not reneged from awarding it to beneficiaries every year.
